We were introduced to Jorge Nichols in 2021. We’ve managed several shipments since then and plan to onboard his coffees come 2025.

80

Finca San José was inaugurated back in 1945 by his great-grandfather; about 80 years ago now!

Honoring the Past;

Valuing the Future

Inspired by the generations before him, Jorge has continued to work alongside his surrounding community while utilizing new advancements and education in wet mill processing to improve quality, open beter market access, and provide better recognition for coffees from Nueva Santa Rosa.

Background

Tucked away in the region of Nueva Santa Rosa is this gem of a person. When COVID hit in 2020, Jorge Nichols decided to take advantage of the months in quarantine by getting to work.

After his grandfather, José Alvarez Barrera (JAB), passed away a few years prior to the pandemic, the wet mill he had built was left abandoned. Much of the equipment was later stolen and the mill needed renovating.

Jorge stepped up to the plate and turned this mill around fixing what was needed and buying all new environmentally friendly processing equipment! Today, Jorge has dreams of better-representing coffees from his grandfather’s farm and providing better market access for the producers in the region of Nueva Santa Rosa.

Over the last 3 years, Jorge's taken several Q-Processing courses with a focus on wet milling. As a result of this investment in his own education, Jorge has found ways to produce consistent 84+ crop while being efficient with costs of production, water usage, and environmental impacts.

We're sold out of his crop this year but we're eager to contract in greater volumes for the upcoming 2025 harvest! We look forward to continuing this relationship and to see more to come in 2025!
