Bio-Diversity & Re-Forestation
This coffee is grown in a high-elevation rainforest that’s situated comfortably inside a lush valley, it’s hard not to arrive here and immediately think to yourself “Yeah, we’re going to like this!”. Beautiful mountains in every direction shelter this pequeño paraíso. Nestled within this valley, healthy cloud forests encourage the strong and bountiful growth of plants like bananas, vanilla, numerous flowers (a region known for orchids), corn, and cardamom. Of course, right in the center of this bio-diverse region is Lote Colectivo, the coffee we have the privilege to bring to you now which is a collective lot of La Cooperativa Samac. It’s their most representative lot of what their community as a whole has to offer. We’re really stoked about this lot this year and were eager to get to work alongside them for next year to see this coffee shine even more.
The leadership of La Cooperativa Samac shared with us that this will be their first time selling to a buyer from the US. They’re excited about what that might mean for them and to continue pursuing this relationship for many reasons. The excitement for their work in coffee is growing and we are extremely thrilled to be involved with the fledgling relationship being created at the La Cooperativa Samac. Samac holds every core value of the word relationship and we firmly believe that it’ll serve as a great basis and motivation for producing better coffees each year.
The honor and kindness of their people and the care and love for their land are tough to put into words until you’ve experienced it. Thankfully, Lote Colectivo helps us to be a part of the shift they’re making locally as they pursue restoring their rainforests and growing responsibly farmed coffee.
Reach out if you’d like to be on the ground floor of this new adventure!
